And we're in December!
Published about 1 year ago • 4 min read
Hello Reader,
Hope you have all been doing well. December is not a better month than November, all told. Yes, I know, it's the holiday season. As a Hindu living in India, Christmas is more about consumerism and capitalism than anything here, but it's still that time of the year when I'm painfully reminded of the absent people in my life.
I lost a friend in December in 2021, so you can guess that it's not really a good time for me. She and I had joined the bank together, and had known each other over 20 years. We were roommates in one of our postings and most of the trainings and despite being in different states, still managed to stay in touch. She passed the same year that I left the bank and it was unexpected. Her husband called me later in the month to tell me about their plans, and I can't even imagine his pain or the pain of their son who I last saw as a little boy and who is now a doctor.
News and Updates
Fiery Magic is releasing today. Yes! I really do love when a book releases, lol. I hope it does well because it's a story I really like.
I haven't been able to do much writing, so Blade Reforged is at a standstill.
I'm still looking for betas for Set in Stone, so if any of you are interested, shoot me a reply to this email, and I'll send you a link where you can download the epub asap.
It's, as I stated in a previous mail, an epic romantic fantasy with enemies to lovers and soulmates. If you love morally grey and complex characters, mythology, and redemption, you will love this gritty tale.
Author Spotlight
New month means it's time for a new spotlight! This month, I have the amazing Audrey Simmons as our author of the month!
Audrey writes under two pen names. Her real name, Audrey Simmons and her other pen name, Andrea Marie Johnson. She also has books published under both.
Ngl, I know her in person, and she's a very good friend, a gifted artist and an awesome writer, and a wonderful human being all around. Today is her birthday as well!
Fiery Magic is dedicated to her, and the MC, Audrey shares a name with her.
She writes fantasy with a dash of romance and a side dish of angst. She dodges tornadoes in the Midwest with her husband, their two cats, and her frog. When she's not writing, she's probably reading, playing video games, drawing maps, photographing random things or holding her cats like wee babs.
She has two books out in her Child of Prophecy series and both are amazing!
You can find my reviews of the books here and here!
Under her other pen name, she has one book out, Shadows Dark and Deadly, which is book 1 of the Red Society. You can find my ARC review of that book here! Murder Batman as we fondly call it is a tale of forgiveness, redemption, found family, and love between two assassins. Or rather one assassin and his apprentice. It's gaslamp fantasy, and darker in tone than the other books.
It's also on sale for the whole of December, so now might be your best chance to get it!
Let's all wish Audrey a Happy Birthday and get her books so she would have enough money to buy her kitties and frog treats.
Promotions
You must be sick of these by now! But alas! if we don't promote our books, we can't get sales and if we don't get sales, we can't eat. Or write.
I would request you all to click the link and browse through the books at least once. Who knows, you may find your next favourite read here!
Colliding Forces and Braving the Storm are both part of the LGBT Romance and Fiction Promo on Bookfunnel. Both are priced at $0.99 for the whole of December, so this is your chance to get it. If Braving the Storm reminds you of current events in the world, and feels too prophetic, please remind yourself that it's only a work of fiction, and that we live in a mundane world without magic. Sadly.
Colliding Forces is my SPSFC entry, and it's still in the competition because the judges haven't got around to reading it yet.
As a lover of queer books, I do love promos that showcase them! So don't forget to take a look at this promo and to looks at the awesome titles in it!
The below is just a sample!
Kobo Plus
Since the remaining promos are all for Kobo Plus, I thought I'd put them here.
Once again, a reminder that ALL my books are on Kobo Plus and if you're subscribed, you can read them for FREE.
The other Kobo Plus Promo has Memories of Forgotten Waves as part of it and lasts till the end of December.
There's also a Kobo Plus Romantasy Promo going on which has Memories of Forgotten Waves as well as The Soul of Magic in it. Both of these books have relations to oceans. The Soul of Magic also has magical penguins.
Last, but not the least is the Fantasy Promo on Kobo Plus. This is a promo I've set up myself because I love to promote Kobo Plus and to connect with other authors on there! This one has a LOT of books in it, so be sure to check it out! I have Durga, Pradyutita and The Deathless Ones in the promo! Also, reminder that our author of the month has all her books on Kobo Plus too!
I'm hoping at least some of you have tried the free 1 month trial and downloaded all my books so Pluto can have more snacks and treats.
I will likely be back around the 17th of December with some more news and other things.
Till then, stay safe and take care of yourselves.
As always, you can find my books on sale here and all my books here.

Hey Reader, The start of February feels like the beginning of the year in some ways since I'm mostly recovering from the previous year during January. February is when I lost my father, and it's not a happy month for me. I also lost my father-in-law in February, so overall, it's not a happy month for my family. All the news from around the world makes me feel even more bleak, and my heart goes out to all of you in the US, especially. I hope these four years pass quickly, and that this is the...
Hey Reader, I really wasn't sure I'd be able to get this newsletter out. I have been sick all this week, and brain wasn't braining AT ALL. But I'm feeling a bit better, brain fog has more or less gone, though energy levels are still very low. On to the rest of the newsletter. News and Updates NEW RELEASES You've no idea just how long I've been waiting to release this book and this series. From the day I started writing it. I always knew Alaric and Lucian were special, and I can't express just...
Hey Reader, I know I know, it's more promotions, BUT you get to check out some really cool books! And I get to eat and publish more books and buy Pluto food and snacks. Win Win Right?? News and Updates The Indie Ink Finalist official announcement has come, and as I already told y'all Pradyutita is now officially a finalist. It's also at $0.99 for this month! The best thing is all the finalists are read by a judge, so no more voting! Everything depends on the quality of the book, so I'm hoping...
